All The Way Home, Natale Ghent

... In the novel "All The Way Home" by Natale Ghent, Nat's mom is struggling to afford to pay the bills for their home. Once she becomes sick, Nat feels like he should take matters into his own hands. He does everything he can to make money for his family but what he can make is not enough. "Mom, I'm trying my hardest to do what I can for this family. I dropped everything I had to make time to do nothing but make money." (59, Ghent) This quote shows that Nat was sacrificing all he had to try to support his family. He decides that since what he was doing already wasn't enough, the best thing to do was to find his father, who left his family when he was very young. Nat set off on his pony Smokey, on a journey to find his father, leaving his sister's Cid and Queenie at home with his mother. Nat risks all he has to find his father. They live in a deserted location where they do not know many people, so anything could happen to him on the streets. And since Nat hadn't heard from his father in years, he knew nothing about how long the journey would take him, where it would take him or even if it was going to worth it. Basically, Nat sacrificed everything he had in attempt to save his family.

Nat does what's right by going to find support for his family. And in my short fiction, the bridge keeper does what's right by saving the lives of many by sacrificing the life of one...
