Tank Man


...This is a famous picture of the 20th century and an international symbol of the Cold War era. "Tank Man," an anonymous man stopped the advance of a column of 59 tanks by simply standing in front of them. This man is recognized internationally by putting his life on the line to stop the tanks from going into the Square in Beijing. This was an ordinary man, who surprised the world. "Tank Man" was ready to sacrifice his life for what he believed in. The tanks even attempted to drive around the man, but that didn't stop him: he repeatedly stepped into the path of the tank in a nonviolent action. The man was willing to sacrifice his life for what he believed in, and for that, he is recognized worldwide.

"Tank Man," relates to my short fiction and the novel "All The Way Home" when it comes to sacrificing for love. Tank man sacrifices his own life to stand up for something that he loves and believes in, the bridge keeper sacrifices the life of someone he loves for the lives of many and Nat sacrifices his own life to save those that he loves the most: his family. Tank man relates to the poem "A Soldiers Sacrifice" completely. Soldiers go into war sacrificing their lives for what they believe in, exactly as Tank man stood up for what he believed in by sacrificing his life...
